It is usually but not always red as indicated in the photos below.
Water meter leak indicator not moving.
It been 3 months and yesterday i had a plumber check it and open the water flow.
Most mechanical meters will not register water use below 1 8 to 1 16 gallon per minute.
If you are not sure if you are looking at the leak indicator and nothing is moving have someone turn on a faucet to see the difference.
That tells me the leak is in the house not between the meter and the house outside.
Hj az i suppose it is possible but since it is such a rudimentary device it is almost impossible for it to fail.
It is possible to have a small drip leak that is not measured by the meter.
He said there was no leak but he only checked for 10 minutes and then closed the main valve again.
Sometimes it s in the middle of the sweep hand sometimes off to the side.
Observe the water meter readings.
Even if it did it would not cause the meter to indicate water flow unless something was actually running.
It may be a triangle star wheel or dial.
Water meter show constant usage but no leak but.
After triple checking that no water is being used in or around your home observe the sweep hand if it is moving you have a leak.
If it is moving you likely have a leak.
My water meter has a small red water flow indicator.
All have separate water meters located on the pavement outside.
The low flow or leak indicator moves slowly for small leaks and faster for larger ones.
As stated before almost all meters have a leak indicator that moves with even he smallest flow.
It moves very slow when all water in the house is not being used.
If you have one of the more modern meters there will be a small black disc in the centre behind the glass that.
Next inspect the low flow indicator if it is moving you have a leak.
The water was shut sometime in between however the water was not drained.
